Indicator full statement | # of persons trained on climate change issues. |
Purpose
This indicator counts the total number of individuals who have participated in training sessions focused on climate change issues, including mitigation, adaptation, and advocacy. It thus tracks the reach and inclusivity of training efforts.
Our Assumption is that training is a fundamental activity for building knowledge and skills necessary for addressing climate change impacts. It is the first step towards empowering people and encouraging them to become agents of change.
Definition
“Persons” : training stakeholders for consistency?): Two target groups are considered here: (i) professionals, i.e. members of NGOS (including Tdh staff), CBOs, local authorities, social workers, etc.; (ii) children and youth engaged with Tdh projects; members of youth-movements or youth-initiatives.
“Trained” (or replace by “information activities for consistency”?): refers to the process of imparting knowledge, skills and competencies to individuals through structured educational programs or sessions. In this context, a person is considered as “trained” if they have successfully completed a formal or informal educational activity designed to increase their understanding and ability to address climate change issues. This training can take carious forms, including workshops and seminars, courses and classes, community training sessions, etc.
“Climate change issues”: encompass a broad range of topics and challenges related to the causes, impacts, mitigation, and adaptation strategies associated with climate change. For the purposes of this indicator, the training content on climate change should include, but is not limited to, the following areas: scientific basis of climate change; impacts of climate change; mitigation strategies; adaptation measures; climate policy and governance; climate justice and equity.
How to collect & analyse the data

---|---|
How to calculate the indicator's value | This is the sum of persons finishing a training cycle / course. |
Data sources | Participants in training activities. |
Data collection methods and tools | Registration forms and/or attendance records. |
Disaggregation | Gender and Age |
What further analysis are we interested in?
From number of participants: outreach and capacity-building ability of Tdh at community level.
From the survey: “efficiency” of the training and used methodologies.
Sharing information with children and youth in a child-sensitive manner.
Disaggregated data helps ensure the training reaches diverse demographic groups.
